POETRY BY PHIL GOLDVARG Regarding the 2004 Sacramento LCLAA marcha
I recieved a call from Phil one day, he told me that he never participated
in such a march that took care of the community. He told me he wrote a poem about the marcha in 2004 and that he wanted me
to have it. I was so touched and honored to recieve his poem. He was happy to take part in the Sacramento LCLAA 2004 Cesar
Chavez march and was inspired to write the poem below. I was trully moved. I did not know him long, but understood right
away that he was a beautyful soul. It was an honor to know him the little time I did, as he helped me get through a dificult
time in my life; he was a true friend to many. This page is dedicated to Phil Goldvarg as I will never forget that during
his challenging moments in life, he marched with the raza of Sacra, and walked the entire way of the marcha. He was the eagle
that glided into the sky leading the marcha like our leader he was. I walked next to him, watching him make the way to the
end - it was emotional for me. Peace be with you grandfather as you touched so many lives and made so many people smile with
loving happiness.

Marching for the Eagle
3~27, Cesar Chavez march en Sacras, Califas,
viva, viva Chavez,
si se puede,
flags in red,
aguilas negras,
singing feet
dancing on earth,
cantamos, gritamos,
dichos de los files,
this movida is a snake,
winding thru el pueblo,
proclaming justicia,
right now, right now,
proclaiming Cesar,
corazon fuerte,
alma dulce,
his spirit rides our voices,
como abrazos suavecitos,
marchamos, marchamos. cada ano,
otra vez y otra vez,
el andar de carino
para el abuelito de las luchas,
de las huelgas,
si se puede,
si se puede.
